[Chemical Knowledge]:Production process and preparation method of bisphenol S.

Bisphenol S, that is, 2,4-dithio-6-tert-butylphenol, is an organic sulfur compound, which is widely used in rubber, plastic, coating, paint and other fields. With the process of industrialization, the demand for bisphenol S is also increasing. Therefore, it is particularly important to study the production process and preparation method of bisphenol S.

Production process of bisphenol S

the production process of bisphenol S mainly includes the following steps: pretreatment, chlorination, acetone and vulcanization.
First of all, pretreatment is one of the key steps in the production of bisphenol S. Diacetone or isopropyl ketone is added to the benzene ring in the form of solution, so that all subunits in the benzene ring enter the competition of phenolic aldehyde condensation. This can reduce the more active than phenol benzene ring subunit to participate in the competition, improve the selectivity of phenol. Then, chlorobenzene ring is prepared by chlorine gas, then hydrogen chloride gas is absorbed in gas phase, and mixed and reacted under the action of sulfuric acid to obtain 2,4-dichlorobenzene ring, and then reacted with phenyl alcohol in hydrogen gas phase absorption to obtain 2,4-bis (tert-butyl) ether phenyl alcohol.
In the second step, chlorination, 2,4-bis (tert-butyl) etherphenyl alcohol is reacted with a chlorinating agent to give 2-(2,4-bis (tert-butyl) etherphenoxy)-1-chloroethane and 4-(2,4-bis (tert-butyl) etherphenoxy)-1-chloropropane as two products.
The third step is acetonation, in the presence of acetone, adding hydrogen catalyst, 2-(2,4-bis (tert-butyl) ether phenoxy)-1-chloroethane and 4-(2,4-bis (tert-butyl) ether phenoxy)-1-chloropropane are reduced to obtain 2,4-bis (tert-butyl) phenyl alcohol, a precursor of bisphenol S.
The last step is sulfidation, I .e., the previously prepared 2,4-bis (tert-butyl) benzene alcohol is subjected to a sulfidation reaction under the catalysis of ferric chloride sulfur to obtain 2,4-dithio-6-tert-butylphenol, I .e., bisphenol S. As shown in FIG.

Preparation method of bisphenol S
in addition to the production process described above, there are other methods that can be used to prepare bisphenol S.
One of the methods is to obtain bisphenol S by direct combination of 2,4-bis (tert-butyl) phenyl ether and elemental sulfur. The preparation process of this method is relatively simple, but the yield is relatively low, so it is rarely used in modern industry.
Another method is to obtain bisphenol S by sulfurization of 2,4-bis (tert-butyl) benzene alcohol under the catalysis of ferrous chloride and potassium sulfide. The yield of this method is relatively high, but the reaction conditions need to be carefully controlled.
In general, the production process and preparation methods of bisphenol S require continuous research and exploration by scientific researchers to improve yields and reduce costs to meet the needs of the industrialization process.
