Nature Description

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the second most common resin in the world. As early as 1835, French chemist Lenio found that vinyl chloride became a white solid when exposed to sunlight. In 1914, German and American chemist found that organic peroxide could accelerate the polymerization of vinyl chloride. In 1931, the German French company adopted the method of emulsion polymerization to realize the industrialization of PVC production. Emulsion polymerization is to use vinyl chloride monomer and water and sodium alkyl sulfonate (surfactant) as emulsifier to evenly disperse vinyl chloride in water to form emulsion, and then use potassium persulfate or ammonium persulfate as initiator, polymerize vinyl chloride into polyvinyl chloride.
The real breakthrough in the application of polyvinyl chloride was in 1933. American chemist Simon added polyvinyl chloride powder which was not widely used at that time.

Production method

PVC resin (9002-86-2) protective measures: Engineering Control: closed operation. Provide good natural ventilation conditions. Respiratory system protection: When the dust concentration in the air exceeds the standard, it is recommended to wear a self-priming filter dust mask. Hand Protection: wear anti-chemical gloves. Body Protection: wear anti-virus penetration work clothes. Eye protection: wear chemical safety protective glasses. Other Protection: Smoking is strictly prohibited at the work site. Keep good hygiene habits.? Stability and reactivity Prohibited Substance: strong oxidant. Precautions: 1. Closed operation. Sealed operation, providing good natural ventilation conditions. 2. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks, chemical safety protective glasses, anti-virus penetration overalls, and chemical gloves. 3. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. 4. Stay away from fire and heat source. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. 5. Avoid contact with oxidant. Light loading and unloading should be carried to prevent the packaging and containers from being damaged. 6. Use explosion-proof ventilation system and equipment. Avoid dust generation. 7. Equipped with corresponding varieties and quantities of fire fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. 8. The empty container may contain harmful substances. First aid measures: Inhalation: leave the site to the fresh air. If you have difficulty breathing, give oxygen. Eating: drink enough warm water to induce vomiting. See a doctor. Skin contact: remove contaminated clothes and rinse with flowing water. Eye contact: lift the eyelid and rinse with flowing water or normal saline. See a doctor. Storage notes: 1. Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. 2. Equipped with corresponding varieties and quantities of fire fighting equipment. 3. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate materials to accommodate leakage. 4. Keep away from fire and heat source. It should be stored separately from the oxidant and should not be mixed. Emergency treatment of leakage: isolate the contaminated area of leakage and restrict access. Cut off the fire source. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear dust masks (full face mask) and anti-virus clothing. Avoid dust, sweep it carefully and transfer it to a safe place in the bag. If there is a large amount of leakage, cover it with plastic cloth and canvas. Collect and recycle or transport to waste disposal sites for disposal. Disposal method: refer to relevant national and local laws and regulations before disposal. Incineration is recommended. After mixing with fuel, burn again. The hydrogen halide discharged from incinerator is removed by acid scrubber.
