1. It is mainly used to produce phenol and acetone, a-methyl styrene, isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide, etc. It can also be used as an additive to improve the octane number of fuel oil, a raw material for synthetic perfume and polymerization initiator. 2. It is an intermediate for the production of herbicide isopropyl long (N-4-isopropylbenzene-N',N'-dimethylurea) and an important intermediate for the production of phenol. 3. Used for organic synthesis and as solvent.
1. It is obtained by alkylating benzene with propylene. Aluminum trichloride is usually used as catalyst and hydrogen chloride as accelerator, and the reaction is carried out at about normal pressure and 95℃. In addition to generating cumene, there are also polyalkyl by-products such as diisopropylbenzene and triisopropylbenzene. In order to reduce side reactions, excessive benzene can be used, the molar ratio of benzene to propylene is about 3; The content of aluminum trichloride in the reaction solution is 3%-8%; the reaction was carried out at a low propylene concentration. In order to improve the production capacity of the reactor and reduce the loss of benzene in the tail gas, the reaction pressure can be increased to 0.5-0.6MPa. The solid (aluminum trichloride and polyisopropylbenzene complex) separated from the alkylating solution obtained by the reaction after cooling and precipitation is recycled. The alkylating solution is hydrolyzed, neutralized and rectified to obtain cumene. Another gas phase process is to pass gaseous benzene and propylene through the phosphoric acid catalytic bed on alumina or aluminum silicate to carry out catalytic alkylation. The reaction pressure is 1.5-40MPa and the temperature is about 250℃. At present, production in industry cumene is mainly used in the liquid phase method mentioned above. 2. The preparation method is to enter benzene and propylene into the hydrocarbon Tower together in the presence of the catalyst aluminum trichloride. Benzene contains a small amount of hydrogen chloride as the cocatalyst, and the reaction temperature is 95 ~ 100℃, the reaction product contains 30%~ 35% cumene and 10%~ 15% cumene. The reaction solution is cooled, settled and separated, and the complex of aluminum trichloride in polyisopropylbenzene is separated, ethylbenzene is removed, and the crude isopropylbenzene is distilled to obtain the finished product.
