Product Applications

Used in organic synthesis and as bactericide and mildew inhibitor.

Production method

1. The mother liquor after extracting m-cresol from the mixture of m-p-cresol can be re-crystallized by oxalic acid addition method. 2. Toluene and sulfuric acid are sulfonated and neutralized, and the generated N-n-octyl benzenesulfonamide is then processed by alkali fusion, acidification and distillation to obtain p-cresol finished products. In order to obtain p-Cresol with higher purity, there are two processes:(1) the p-cresol obtained after distillation is separated by crystallization;(2) the p-toluenesulfonic acid obtained after sulfonation is cooled, crystallized and filtered first, then, neutralization, alkali fusion, acidification and distillation are carried out to obtain the finished product. The sulfonated alkali fusion technology developed in China is mature, which can produce high purity p-cresol and change the process conditions. The device can also produce m-cresol, O-cresol, phenol, naphthol, etc.
