The manufacturing method
of ethyl phenol
1. Introduction
of ethyl phenol is an important organic chemical raw material, widely used in medicine, pesticides, spices, dyes and other fields. Therefore, the study of the production method of ethyl phenol has important practical significance and economic value. This paper will introduce the method of preparing ethyl phenol from p-nitrotoluene by reduction, etherification and hydrolysis.
2. experimental raw materials and equipment
1 raw materials: p-nitrotoluene, ferrous sulfate, sodium hydroxide, ethanol, hydrochloric acid, etc.
2. Equipment: reaction kettle, stirrer, thermometer, reflux condenser, water separator, etc.
3. experimental steps
1. reduction reaction: the nitrotoluene and ferrous sulfate, sodium hydroxide according to a certain proportion into the reaction kettle, heated to a certain temperature, reduction reaction, generation of aminophenol.
2. etherification reaction: the aminophenol and ethanol according to a certain proportion into the reaction kettle, adding catalyst, heating to a certain temperature, etherification reaction, generation of aminophenyl ethyl ether.
3. hydrolysis reaction: p-aminophenethyl ether and hydrochloric acid are added into the reaction kettle according to a certain proportion, heated to a certain temperature, and the hydrolysis reaction is carried out to generate p-ethylphenol.
4. Post-treatment: The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature, filtered, washed, and dried to obtain a pure p-ethylphenol product.
4. Experimental results and discussion
1. Experimental results: Through the analysis of the experimental data, the yield and purity of the ethyl phenol are in line with the requirements.
2. experimental discussion: the influence of raw material ratio, reaction temperature, reaction time and other factors on the experimental results is discussed, and the best process conditions are determined. At the same time, the possible problems in the experiment are analyzed and solved.
5. conclusion
In this paper, p-nitrotoluene as raw material, through reduction, etherification, hydrolysis and other steps of preparation of ethyl phenol method is feasible and practical. The experimental results show that the method can obtain high purity and good yield of p-ethyl phenol products. At the same time, this paper also analyzes and solves the problems that may occur in the experiment, which provides a reference for industrial production.
