Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastic with high temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength and excellent electrical properties. It is widely used in chemical industry, electronics, machinery, automobile, aerospace and other fields. In the field of chemical production raw materials, the manufacturing methods of polyphenylene sulfide mainly include the following:
1. melt polycondensation method
melt polycondensation method is a method of polycondensation reaction of hydroquinone (HQ) and thiodiphenyl ether (SDE) in a molten state to generate polyphenylene sulfide. The reaction temperature of this method is relatively high, and it needs to be carried out at a high temperature, but no solvent is needed in the reaction process, so it has the advantages of simple process and low cost. The specific steps are as follows:
1. mixing hydroquinone and thiodiphenyl ether uniformly according to a certain molar ratio;
2. heating the mixture to a molten state for polycondensation reaction;
3. removing low molecular by-products and unreacted monomers under vacuum;
4. cooling and pelletizing to obtain polyphenylene sulfide products.
2. Solution Polycondensation Method
The
solution polycondensation method is a method in which hydroquinone and thiodiphenyl ether are subjected to a polycondensation reaction in a solvent to produce polyphenylene sulfide. Compared with the melt polycondensation method, the solution polycondensation method has a lower reaction temperature and can be carried out under milder conditions, but requires the use of a large amount of solvent, so the cost is high. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Dissolve hydroquinone and thiodiphenyl ether in a solvent according to a certain molar ratio;
2. Condensation reaction under certain temperature and pressure;
3. Remove the solvent and low molecular by-products by distillation and other methods;
4. Obtain a polymer solution of polyphenylene sulfide, and undergo steps such as precipitation, washing and drying to obtain a polyphenylene sulfide product.
3. Solid Phase Polycondensation Method
The solid phase polycondensation method is a method in which a solid mixture of hydroquinone and thiodiphenyl ether is subjected to a polycondensation reaction at a high temperature to produce polyphenylene sulfide. The method does not require a solvent, has the advantages of simple process, low cost, etc., but the reaction time is longer and requires a higher reaction temperature. The specific steps are as follows:
1. mixing hydroquinone and thiodiphenyl ether uniformly according to a certain molar ratio;
2. carrying out solid phase polycondensation reaction of the mixture at high temperature;
3. obtaining polyphenylene sulfide product by grinding, sieving and other methods.
To sum up, the melt polycondensation method, the solution polycondensation method and the solid phase polycondensation method are all methods for manufacturing polyphenylene sulfide, and each method has its advantages and disadvantages and scope of application. In actual production, suitable methods can be selected according to specific conditions and needs.
