The manufacturing method
of p-chlorophenylacetic acid
1. Introduction
p-chlorophenylacetic acid is an important organic chemical raw material, widely used in medicine, pesticides, dyes and other fields. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study the manufacturing method of p-chlorophenylacetic acid. This paper will introduce the method of preparing p-chlorophenylacetic acid from p-chlorotoluene through oxidation, hydrolysis, acidification and other steps.
2. experimental raw materials and equipment
1 raw materials: chlorotoluene, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, etc.
2. Equipment: reaction kettle, stirrer, thermometer, dropping funnel, etc.
3. Experimental steps
1. Oxidation reaction
Add a certain amount of p-chlorotoluene and hydrogen peroxide in the reaction kettle, stir and heat to a certain temperature, maintain a certain time, so that p-chlorotoluene oxidation to generate p-chlorobenzaldehyde.
2. Hydrolysis reaction
The p-chlorobenzaldehyde obtained by the oxidation reaction is cooled to room temperature, a certain amount of sodium hydroxide aqueous solution is added, stirred and heated to a certain temperature, and maintained for a certain time to hydrolyze the p-chlorobenzaldehyde to generate p-chlorobenzyl alcohol.
3. Acidification Reaction
The p-chlorobenzyl alcohol obtained by the hydrolysis reaction is cooled to room temperature, a certain amount of hydrochloric acid is added, and stirred for a certain period of time to acidify the p-chlorobenzyl alcohol to generate p-chlorobenzyl acetic acid.
4. Crystallization and Separation
The p-chlorophenylacetic acid solution obtained by the acidification reaction is cooled to room temperature, the p-chlorophenylacetic acid is crystallized out, and the p-chlorophenylacetic acid product is obtained by filtration and separation.
4. Experimental results and discussion
1. Experimental results
Through the above experimental steps, we successfully produced p-chlorobenzeneacetic acid with a high yield and a purity of more than 98%.
2. Experimental discussion
In the oxidation reaction, the amount of hydrogen peroxide and reaction temperature will affect the oxidation effect, need to be adjusted according to the actual situation; in the hydrolysis reaction, the amount of sodium hydroxide and reaction temperature will also affect the hydrolysis effect; in the acidification reaction, the amount of hydrochloric acid needs to be properly controlled to ensure product purity. In addition, during the whole experiment, it is necessary to control the reaction time and stirring speed to ensure the full progress of the reaction.
5. conclusion
In this paper, p-chlorophenylacetic acid was successfully prepared from p-chlorotoluene as raw material through oxidation, hydrolysis, acidification and other steps, with high yield and purity of more than 98%. The method is easy to operate, the raw materials are easy to obtain, and has a good prospect for industrialization.
