[Chemical Knowledge]:Production and manufacturing method and process flow of n-butene

The manufacturing method
of n-butene
1. Introduction

n-butene is an important chemical raw material, widely used in synthetic rubber, plastics, solvents and other fields. With the continuous development of the chemical industry, the demand for n-butene is also increasing year by year. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the manufacturing method of n-butene for improving production efficiency, reducing costs and promoting the development of the chemical industry. This paper will introduce the manufacturing methods of n-butene, including cracking, dehydrogenation, alcohol dehydration and so on.

2. cracking method

cracking method is one of the main production methods of n-butene, mainly through the high temperature cracking naphtha, light diesel oil and other hydrocarbon raw materials, so that it is decomposed into small molecules of olefins, including n-butene. The production process of cracking method mainly has two kinds of tube furnace cracking and steam cracking.

1. Tube furnace cracking

Tube furnace cracking is a traditional cracking method, mainly heating hydrocarbon feedstock to high temperature, so that it is cracked in the cracking tube to produce olefins. The advantages of this method are simple process and convenient operation, but the disadvantage is high energy consumption and low production efficiency.

2. Steam cracking

Steam cracking is a more advanced cracking method, which mainly mixes hydrocarbon raw materials with steam and carries out cracking reaction under the condition of high temperature and high pressure. The advantage of this method is that it can improve the yield and purity of olefins and reduce energy consumption, but the disadvantage is that the equipment investment is large and the operation requirements are high.

3. dehydrogenation

dehydrogenation is a method for producing n-butene by dehydrogenation reaction, mainly by dehydrogenation of n-butane to produce n-butene and hydrogen. The production process of dehydrogenation is mainly fixed bed dehydrogenation and fluidized bed dehydrogenation.

1. Fixed bed dehydrogenation

Fixed bed dehydrogenation is a traditional dehydrogenation method, mainly after mixing n-butane and hydrogen, dehydrogenation reaction is carried out through the catalyst in the fixed bed reactor. The advantages of this method are long catalyst life and stable operation, but the disadvantages are high reaction temperature and high energy consumption.

2. Fluidized bed dehydrogenation

Fluidized bed dehydrogenation is a new type of dehydrogenation method, which mainly mixes n-butane and hydrogen, and then carries out dehydrogenation reaction through the catalyst in the fluidized bed reactor. The advantages of this method are lower reaction temperature, lower energy consumption, and higher catalyst activity, but the disadvantage is that the catalyst wears quickly and needs to be replaced regularly.

4. alcohol dehydration method

alcohol dehydration method is a method to produce n-butene through alcohol dehydration reaction, mainly by heating n-butanol to high temperature, so that it is dehydrated to generate n-butene and water. The advantages of this method are simple process and convenient operation, but the disadvantage is that the raw material cost is high and a large amount of energy is consumed.

5. Conclusion There are many methods for the manufacture of n-butene in

, including cracking, dehydrogenation, alcohol dehydration and so on. Different methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the appropriate production process should be selected according to the actual situation. In the future, with the continuous progress and development of chemical technology, the manufacturing method of n-butene will continue to be improved and optimized to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and promote the sustainable development of the chemical industry.
