Commonly used catalysts are acidic catalysts (such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid) and basic catalysts (such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide). When selecting a catalyst, it is necessary to consider its activity, selectivity, stability and economy. The parameters such as temperature, pressure and alcohol-oil ratio should be controlled during the reaction to ensure the smooth progress of the reaction.
4. Post-Treatment
After
completion of the transesterification reaction, the resultant needs to be subjected to post-treatments including washing, separation, drying, and refining. First, the reaction mixture is washed with water to remove the catalyst and by-products. Next, products such as regenerating oil and glycerin are separated by distillation, extraction, or the like. Then, moisture in the reclaimed oil is removed by drying to improve its stability. Finally, the quality of the regenerated oil is further improved by refining, such as removing pigments and odors.
5. quality inspection and storage
After completing the manufacture of recycled oil, it is necessary to carry out quality inspection to ensure that all indicators meet relevant standards. Common test items include acid value, peroxide value, density, viscosity, flash point, etc. For unqualified reclaimed oil, secondary treatment or waste is required. Qualified reclaimed oil should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight and high temperature.
