[Chemical Knowledge]:What does low fuel level mean?

Low fuel level means that the level of fuel stored in the car's fuel tank is lower than the normal range. This may mean that the car is about to run out of fuel or there is a problem with the fuel system. Therefore, when you see a low fuel level prompt, you should take immediate action to avoid running out of fuel or causing other more serious problems while traveling.

Before understanding the possible causes, we should first understand the working principle of the car's fuel system. Automotive fuel system refers to all the mechanical and electronic equipment that provides fuel for the engine. In this system, fuel flows from the fuel tank to the fuel pump, which sends the fuel to the engine for power release, while the vehicle emits exhaust gas. The fuel pump works automatically according to the amount of fuel required, ensuring that the engine works correctly at each fuel level.

When the vehicle is driving, it is necessary to check whether the fuel level is sufficient at all times. When the fuel level is low, it must be refueled, otherwise it will cause harm to the vehicle or even stop driving. There are several possible causes of low fuel level.

1. Fuel pump failure: The fuel pump is the core component of the entire fuel system. When it fails, it may cause the fuel to flow into the engine smoothly and gradually run out. This means that in the event of a fuel pump failure, your car may run out of fuel during operation.

2. Worn or damaged fuel lines and other fuel system components: Worn or damaged fuel lines and other fuel system components (such as filters and fuel injectors) may cause fuel leakage or fuel system failure to operate normally. This will cause the fuel to not flow smoothly into the engine. As a result, the fuel is reduced and the fuel level is low.

3. Oil leakage: The fuel tank may leak, which may be caused by wear, crack or corrosion of the tank body, or by rupture of tightly connected accessories (such as oil filler, outlet pipe, oil pipe and tank belt, etc.). Leaks can cause severe evaporation and loss of fuel, and eventually low fuel levels.

4. Improper driving operation: According to the manufacturer's regulations, the fuel in the fuel tank must be filled within the specified fuel level. If the fuel level of the fuel tank is exceeded, it may cause vehicle fuel leakage. Therefore, correct driving operation is very important to avoid low fuel level.
