bisphenol S(BPS) is an organic compound with white needle crystals. Melting point 240-241 ℃. Soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, soluble in alcohols and ethers, slightly soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, insoluble in water. It has two phenol functional groups on both sides of the sulfonyl group. It is usually used to cure quick-drying epoxy resin adhesives. It is classified as bisphenol and is a close molecular analog of bisphenol A(BPA). BPS is distinguished from BPA by possessing a sulfone group (SO2) as the central linker of the molecule instead of dimethylmethylene (C(CH3)2), which is the case with bisphenol A.

Nine Functions and Uses

of Bisphenol S 1. Used as Monomer for Synthesis of Polysulfone Resin

2. Used in coatings, leather modifiers, dye intermediates, metal plating brighteners, etc.

3. Used as fixing agent

4. Used as bath additive, leather tanning agent, dispersant for disperse dye high temperature dyeing, phenolic resin hardening accelerator, resin flame retardant, etc

5. Used as an intermediate for pesticides, dyes and auxiliaries

6. Bisphenol A substitutes can be used as raw materials for polycarbonate, epoxy resin, polyester, phenolic resin, polysulfone and polyethersulfone.

7. Used in the manufacture of color photographic materials, photographic contrast enhancers, thermal recording materials (developer), daily surfactants and high-efficiency deodorants.
