salicylic acid is an organic compound, a colorless, bitter solid, precursor and metabolite of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). White crystalline powder, odorless, slightly bitter taste first and then pungent. It exists in the natural willow bark, white bead leaves and sweet birch trees. Chemical formula C6H4(OH)(COOH), melting point 157-159 ℃, gradually changing color in Beijing under light.

Nine functions and uses

of salicylic acid 1. Pharmaceutical industry is used to prepare antipyretic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and other drugs

2. The dye industry is used to produce azo direct dyes and acid mordant dyes

3. Used as food preservatives, fungicides and preservatives.

4. Used in the production of other drugs, including 4-aminosalicylic acid, xadourea and landmelide (via saltazide)

5. Isopropyl salicylate, an intermediate for the synthesis of organophosphorus insecticides isocarbophos and methyl isofos, and 4-hydroxycoumarin, an intermediate for rodenticide and rodenticide ethers.

6. Used for the determination of aluminum, boron, cerium, copper, iron, lead, manganese, mercury, silver, titanium, tungsten, vanadium, sulfite, nitrate and nitrite.

7. Salicylic acid can also be used as phenolic resin curing agent, textile printing and dyeing slurry preservative, synthetic fiber dyeing bulking agent (dye promoter), etc.;

8. It is

used in rubber industry to produce anti-scorch agent, ultraviolet absorber and foaming aid, etc.

9. Used as spices, such as methyl salicylate can be used as toothpaste and other oral spices and other flavoring spices and food spices.
