nonylphenol originates from the environmental degradation of nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether, a metabolite of commercial detergents called alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether. NPE is a transparent to light orange liquid. Nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ethers are nonionic in water, which means they have no charge. Due to this characteristic, they are used as detergents, detergents, emulsifiers and various other applications. They are two-parent, which means they have hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties, which allows them to surround non-polar substances such as oil and grease, isolating them from water.

Five Functions and Uses

of Nonylphenol 1. Used in the manufacture of antioxidants, lubricating oil additives, laundry and tableware detergents, emulsifiers and solubilizers.

2. Non-ionic surfactant alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether and nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether precursors for detergents, paints, pesticides, personal care products and plastics

3. Used to produce tris (4-nonylphenyl) phosphite (TNPP)

4. Used in many epoxy resin formulations

5. It is an intermediate of surfactant.
