On June 3, the benchmark price of acetone was 5195.00 yuan/ton, down -7.44 percent from the beginning of the month (5612.50 yuan/ton).

With the acetone market continues to decline, at the beginning of the month, the terminal factory mostly to digest the contract-based, active procurement is insufficient, short-term real orders are also difficult to release.

In May, the domestic acetone market price went down all the way. As of May 31, the average monthly price in East China market was 5965 yuan tons, down 5.46 percent from the previous month. During the month, although the maintenance of phenol ketone plant was concentrated, and the port inventory was not large, maintaining around 25000 tons. The overall supply of acetone market in May was not much, but the downstream demand performance remained sluggish.

Bisphenol A: domestic plant capacity utilization rate in the vicinity of 70%. Cangzhou Dahua 200000 tons/year plant is operating near 60%; Shandong Luxi Chemical 200000 Ton/Year Plant Shutdown; Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui 120000 Ton/Year Plant was shut down on May 19 for overhaul due to steam problems in the park. It is expected to last about 10 days. The load of Guangxi Huayi Bisphenol A Plant increased slightly.

MMA: the capacity utilization rate of the acetone cyanohydrin MMA plant is 47.5 percent, some of the plants in Jiangsu Sirbang, Zhejiang Petrochemical Phase I and Lihua Yilijin Refining and Chemical Plant have not yet resumed restart, and the Mitsubishi Chemical Raw Materials (Shanghai) plant has been shut down for overhaul this week, resulting in a lower overall MMA operating load.

Isopropyl alcohol: the operating rate of domestic acetone-based isopropanol enterprises is 41%, and the 100000-ton/year plant of Kailing Chemical Company is shut down. Shandong Dadi 100000 Tons/Year Plant Shutdown at the End of April; Dezhou Detian 50000 Tons/Year Plant Shutdown on May 2; Haili Plus 50000 Tons/Year Plant Low Load Operation; Lihuayi 100000 Tons/Year Isopropyl Alcohol Plant Reduces Negative Operation.

MIBK: the operating rate of the industry was 46%. Jilin Petrochemical's 15000-ton/year MIBK plant was shut down on May 4, with an uncertain restart time. Ningbo's 5000-ton/year MIBK plant was shut down for maintenance on May 16, and resumed restart within this week, gradually lifting the burden.

Weak downstream demand makes it difficult to ship acetone market, superimposed on the upstream raw material market continues to decline, the cost side also lacks support, so acetone market prices continue to fall.

from the above equipment maintenance list, it can be seen that some phenol ketone maintenance equipment will be restarted soon, and the operating load of acetone enterprises will be increased. In addition, the 320000-ton phenol ketone equipment in Qingdao Bay and the 450000-ton phenol ketone equipment in Huizhou Zhongxin Phase II are planned to be put into operation from June to July. The market supply increment is clear, and the downstream demand will enter the off season, and the supply and demand links are still under pressure.

It is expected that the market will not improve this week, inevitably there is a risk of continued downside, need to wait for the release of the demand signal.
