m-Ethylphenol (meta-Ethylphenol) is an aromatic compound with the molecular formula C8H10O and a molecular weight of 122.17g/mol. In its chemical structure, the third position (meta position) on the benzene ring has an ethyl substituent, and the first position has a hydroxyl group. This structure gives m-ethylphenol unique physical and chemical properties. It is a colorless to light yellow liquid at room temperature, with a fragrant odor, a boiling point of about 200°C, and a density of about 0.97g/cm³. Its solubility in water is low, but it is soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and chloroform.
