Purified terephthalic acid (Purified Terephthalic Acid, PTA) is an important chemical raw material, its chemical formula is C8H6O4. PTA is a white crystalline powder with high purity and stability, with a melting point of 300°C and a density of about 1.52g/cm³. PTA is poorly soluble in water, but soluble in alkaline solutions and some organic solvents. These physical and chemical properties make it an important raw material for polyester production, but also put forward specific requirements for its storage and transportation.
The main use of PTA is in the production of polyester materials, especially polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is widely used in fiber, bottled beverage containers, film and so on. The downstream products of purified terephthalic acid mainly include polyester fiber and PET resin. Polyester fibers are widely used in the textile industry to produce clothing, bedding and industrial textiles. Storage containers shall be plastic or paper bags with good sealing and placed on pallets to prevent moisture and contamination. The storage area shall be equipped with necessary fire fighting equipment to deal with sudden accidents.
