Fatty amines are a class of organic compounds that contain one or more alkyl chains linked to an amino group (-NH₂) in their molecular structure. According to the number of alkyl chains around the amino group, fatty amines can be divided into mono-, di-and tri-amines. Fatty amines are basic and can react with acids to form salts. For liquid fatty amines, stainless steel or glass lined tanks are often used. Storage tanks should be placed in a cool, well-ventilated place, away from fire and oxidizing agents. Since fatty amines tend to absorb moisture, the storage environment should be kept dry. Adequate ventilation should also be provided to prevent ammonia accumulation.
Special attention should be paid to the safety of fatty amines when handling and using them. Fatty amines are irritating to the skin and eyes, and inhalation of high concentrations of vapors may cause respiratory discomfort. When handling fatty amines, workers should wear appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves, goggles and respiratory protection. Fatty amine waste needs to be properly disposed of to prevent its pollution to the environment. Industrial emissions should comply with local environmental regulations to minimize air and water pollution.
