Polyisobutylene is an important synthetic polymer, which is widely used in industry and daily life. polymer polyisobutylene is longer, and the interaction force between molecules is enhanced. This results in a higher melting point and glass transition temperature of the high molecular polyisobutylene. In contrast, low molecular polyisobutylene has a lower melting point and glass transition temperature due to its shorter molecular chain and weaker intermolecular interaction.
In addition, the molecular chain of high-molecular polyisobutylene is longer, and the resistance to molecular motion increases, so that the viscosity thereof is higher than that of low-molecular polyisobutylene. This also means that the polymer polyisobutylene has poor fluidity and is not easy to process. On the contrary, the low molecular polyisobutylene has a shorter molecular chain, so its viscosity is lower and its processability is better.
In addition, the physical properties of high-molecular polyisobutylene and low-molecular polyisobutylene are different due to the difference in molecular chain length. Polyisobutylene polymer usually has high tensile strength, elongation at break and wear resistance, and is suitable for making high-strength and durable materials. Low molecular polyisobutylene, on the other hand, has lower strength and toughness and is often used to make soft materials.
In summary, the difference between the polymer and the low molecule of polyisobutylene is mainly reflected in the molecular chain length, physical properties and processing performance. Polyisobutylene has a long molecular chain, high melting point, high viscosity and high tensile strength, while low molecular polyisobutylene has a short molecular chain, low melting point, low viscosity and good processing performance.
