A cyclone separator is a commonly used separation device, mainly used to separate solids and liquids. It is a kind of equipment that separates the mixed fluid into different density components by using centrifugal force. So, how does the cyclone separator work?
The main component of the
cyclone separator is the cyclone, which has a special configuration inside. It consists of a cylindrical outer cylinder and an inner cylinder, there is a certain gap between the two, forming an annular groove. In the upper part of the cyclone, there is a fluid inlet. The fluid enters the inner cylinder after passing through the annular groove in the internal gap of the cyclone. Here, the cyclone rotates in the counterclockwise direction and accelerates continuously, creating a rotational speed. At the center of the cyclone, the acceleration continues to an almost constant speed, forming a centrifugal field, which centrifuges the material placed in the centrifugal field. The separation efficiency of the

cyclone separator depends on the centrifugal force and the material density difference. During the separation process, the denser solid particles, I .e., relative to the liquid particles, move towards the center of the centrifugal force field, while the denser liquid moves towards the edge of the centrifugal force field. In the separation process, the greater the centrifugal force, the higher the separation efficiency of solid particles. The

adjusts the centrifugal force before using the cyclone separator by adjusting its input flow and rotation speed. When the centrifugation of the liquid is completed, the solid and the liquid are respectively discharged at the two outlets of the cyclone separator. Cyclonic separation can be performed using different fluids, such as water, oil, and liquid metals.
