Ethyl methacrylate nitrile (EMA) is an important raw material for chemical production, which is widely used in polymer synthesis, medicine, pesticide and other fields. The following is about the manufacturing method of ethyl methacrylate nitrile:
1. raw materials to prepare
1. Methacrylic acid: purity required ≥ 99%, as the main reactant.
2. Acetonitrile: purity required ≥ 99%, as a reaction solvent and reactant.
3. Initiator: persulfate, azo compound, etc., used to initiate polymerization.
2. Equipment Preparation
The reaction equipment to be prepared includes a reactor, a stirrer, a thermometer, a dropping funnel, a reflux condenser, and the like.
3. Manufacturing Steps
1. Methacrylic acid and acetonitrile are added into a reactor according to a certain proportion and stirred evenly.
2. While stirring, the initiator is gradually added to initiate polymerization.
3. The reaction temperature is controlled, generally in the range of 60-80°C, to maintain a stable reaction rate.
4. During the reaction, the viscosity of the reaction liquid and the monomer conversion rate were monitored in time to determine the reaction progress.
5. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was cooled to room temperature and then post-treated.
4. post-treatment
1. pour the reaction solution into a separatory funnel, add an appropriate amount of water, shake the separatory funnel, make the aqueous phase and the organic phase fully contact, to wash off the remaining methacrylic acid and acetonitrile in the reaction solution.
2. After liquid separation, the organic phase was collected and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate to remove residual moisture.
3. The anhydrous sodium sulfate was removed by filtration and the fraction of ethyl methacrylate nitrile was collected by distillation.
5. Precautions
1. During operation, strictly abide by laboratory safety regulations and wear protective equipment to prevent exposure to toxic and harmful chemicals.
2. Control the reaction temperature and stirring speed to ensure the smooth progress of the reaction.
3. In the post-treatment process, attention should be paid to removing residual moisture and other impurities to ensure the purity of the product.
The above is the manufacturing method of ethyl methacrylate nitrile. Through strict operating procedures and quality control, high-quality ethyl methacrylate nitrile products can be produced, which provides important raw material guarantee for the production of chemical industry.
