[Chemical Knowledge]:TPE production and manufacturing methods and processes.

TPE(Thermoplastic Elastomer) is a thermoplastic elastomer with excellent elasticity, weather resistance, chemical resistance and other characteristics, so it has been widely used in the field of chemical production raw materials. This article will introduce the manufacturing method of TPE.

1. Raw Material Preparation

The manufacturing of TPE requires the preparation of the following raw materials:

1. Base resin: The base resin of TPE mainly includes SEBS, SBS, etc. These resins have good thermal stability and mechanical properties.

2. softener: the role of softener is to adjust the hardness and fluidity of TPE, commonly used softeners are naphthenic oil, paraffin oil and so on.

3. filler: filler can improve the strength and hardness of TPE, commonly used filler calcium carbonate, talc and so on.

4. Functional additives: According to the different application requirements of TPE, different functional additives can be added, such as antioxidants, anti-ultraviolet agents, etc.

2. Mixing Process

Mixing is a process in which a base resin, a softener, a filler and a functional additive are mixed together in a certain proportion, and is usually mixed by an internal mixer or an open mixer. The following points need to be paid attention to during the mixing process:

1. Control the feeding sequence and speed to ensure that the materials are fully mixed.

2. Control the mixing temperature and time to prevent overheating or peroxidation of materials.

3. Adjust the formula and process parameters according to the requirements of the product to ensure product quality.

3. granulation process

the mixed materials need to be granulated for subsequent processing and use. The granulation process can be carried out by an extruder or a pelletizer, and the specific process is as follows:

1. Add the mixed materials into the extruder, and extrude and form through a screw.

2. through the water tank or air cooling of the extruded material, so that its curing molding.

3. Use a pelletizer to cut the cooled material into pellets of a certain length.

4. post-treatment process

The pelletized TPE pellets need to be post-treated to further improve their quality and stability. The post-treatment process includes the following aspects:

1. Drying: Drying the TPE pellets to remove moisture and volatiles and improve the stability of the product.

2. Sieving: Sieve the dried TPE pellets to remove impurities and unqualified products and ensure product quality.

3. Packaging: The sieved TPE pellets are packaged for storage and transportation.

In short, the manufacture of TPE needs to go through multiple links such as raw material preparation, mixing process, granulation process and post-treatment process. Each link requires strict control of process parameters and product quality to ensure that the final product has excellent performance and stability.
