Manufacturing Method
of Methyl Acetate
Methyl acetate is an important organic chemical raw material, which is widely used in medicine, pesticide, plastic, spice and other fields. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study the manufacturing method of methyl acetate. This paper will introduce the manufacturing methods of methyl acetate, including esterification method, dimethyl carbonate method, methanol carbonylation method, etc.
1. Esterification
Esterification is one of the common methods for the production of methyl acetate. In this method, methanol and acetic acid are esterified under the action of a catalyst to produce methyl acetate and water. Commonly used catalysts are sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, etc. Among them, the sulfuric acid catalyst has high activity, but the equipment is seriously corroded and needs frequent maintenance and replacement. Hydrochloric acid catalyst activity is low, but the equipment corrosion is light. Phosphoric acid catalyst activity is moderate, equipment corrosion is also light. The production process of
esterification method is as follows: methanol and acetic acid are mixed in a certain proportion, a catalyst is added, and the reaction is heated in a reaction kettle. After completion of the reaction, methyl acetate and water were separated by distillation to obtain a methyl acetate product having a relatively high purity.
2. dimethyl carbonate method
dimethyl carbonate method is a new type of methyl acetate manufacturing method. The method is a transesterification reaction of dimethyl carbonate with methanol to produce methyl acetate and dimethoxymethane. The advantages of this method are mild reaction conditions, non-toxic and harmless catalyst, and no separation of reaction products. However, dimethyl carbonate is a toxic and harmful chemical, which requires high equipment and operation. The production process of
dimethyl carbonate method is as follows: after mixing dimethyl carbonate and methanol in a certain proportion, the catalyst is added, and the reaction is heated in a reaction kettle. After the reaction, methyl acetate and dimethoxymethane were separated by distillation to obtain methyl acetate with high purity.
3. Methanol carbonylation
Methanol carbonylation is a direct synthesis of methyl acetate. In this method, methanol and carbon monoxide are carbonylated in the presence of a catalyst to directly produce methyl acetate. The advantages of this method are simple process, high product purity, non-toxic and harmless catalyst. However, this method requires high temperature and high pressure reaction conditions, and requires high equipment and operation.
methanol carbonylation production process is as follows: methanol and carbon monoxide are mixed according to a certain proportion, the catalyst is added, and the carbonylation reaction is carried out in a high temperature and high pressure reactor. After the reaction, methyl acetate with high purity was obtained by cooling and separation.
In short, there are many methods for manufacturing methyl acetate, and different methods have different advantages and disadvantages and scope of application. When choosing a manufacturing method, it is necessary to consider comprehensively according to the actual situation and choose a suitable process route. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to safety and environmental protection during the production process, comply with relevant laws, regulations and standard requirements, and ensure product quality and production safety.
