(1) The phenol and the catalyst are added into a reaction kettle, and after heating to a certain temperature, isopropanol is added to carry out an alkylation reaction.

(2) After the reaction is completed, it is cooled to room temperature to precipitate a solid product, which is filtered, washed and dried to obtain a finished product of BHT. The advantage of

alkylation method is that it can avoid the use of toxic and harmful raw materials such as ethyl formate, and can also improve the purity and yield of BHT.

3. Oxidation method

oxidation method is a relatively new BHT manufacturing method, mainly using phenol and hydrogen as raw materials, through the oxidation reaction of BHT. The specific manufacturing process is as follows:
