PPD, also known as p-phenylenediamine, is an important organic chemical raw material, widely used in dyes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, rubber and other fields. In the field of raw materials for chemical production, PPD manufacturing methods mainly include the following:
1. iron powder reduction method
iron powder reduction method is a commonly used PPD manufacturing method. The method uses aniline as a raw material, and in the presence of hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, it reacts with iron powder to generate PPD. The specific manufacturing steps are as follows:
1. mixing aniline with hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid to prepare aniline hydrochloride or aniline sulfate.
2. iron powder is added into the reaction kettle, then aniline hydrochloride or aniline sulfate is added, heated and stirred, and a reduction reaction occurs.
3. After completion of the reaction, the iron slag is removed by filtration to obtain a solution of PPD hydrochloride or sulfate.
4. Neutralize the solution with lye to obtain a solid precipitate of PPD, which is filtered, washed and dried to obtain a finished PPD product.
2. catalytic hydrogenation
catalytic hydrogenation is a more advanced PPD manufacturing method. The method uses aniline as raw material, and under the action of a catalyst, an addition reaction occurs with hydrogen to generate PPD. The specific manufacturing steps are as follows:
1. aniline is mixed with catalyst and added into a high-pressure reactor.
2. Hydrogen is introduced, heated and stirred, and an addition reaction occurs.
3. After completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration to obtain a PPD solution.
4. Neutralize the solution with lye to obtain a solid precipitate of PPD, which is filtered, washed and dried to obtain a finished PPD product.
3. electrochemical reduction method
electrochemical reduction method is a new type of PPD manufacturing method. The method uses aniline as raw material, and reduces aniline to PPD by electrolysis in an electrolytic cell. The specific manufacturing steps are as follows:
1. aniline is added into an electrolytic cell, and an electric current is applied to cause an electrolytic reaction.
2. PPD is generated on the cathode and hydrogen is generated on the anode.
3. Control the amount and purity of PPD by regulating the current and electrolysis time.
4. After the reaction, the PPD precipitate on the cathode is taken out, and the PPD product is obtained through filtration, washing, drying and other steps.
The above three methods are all commonly used manufacturing methods for PPD, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. The iron powder reduction method is easy to obtain raw materials and simple to operate, but the purity of the generated PPD is low, and further purification operations are required. The reaction conditions of the catalytic hydrogenation method are relatively mild, and the generated PPD has a high purity, but a noble metal catalyst is required, and the cost is high. The electrochemical reduction method has the advantages of environmental protection and energy saving, but the equipment investment is large and professional operation technology is required. In actual production, a suitable manufacturing method can be selected according to specific conditions.
No matter which method is used to manufacture PPD, it is necessary to strictly comply with relevant safety production regulations and environmental protection requirements to ensure the safety and environmental protection of the production process. At the same time, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive quality control of the production process to ensure the stability and reliability of product quality.
