3. carbonic acid method
carbonic acid method is the reaction of boron magnesium ore powder with sodium carbonate to generate boric acid and magnesium carbonate. The reaction equation is: Mg2B2O5 2Na2CO3 5H2O = 2B(OH)3 2 Na2Mg(CO3)2. The solution after the reaction is filtered, washed, and dried to obtain a boric acid product. The advantage of
carbonic acid method is that the waste residue magnesium carbonate can be used as a building material and will not pollute the environment. However, the disadvantage of this method is that the raw material sodium carbonate is relatively expensive and the production cost is relatively high.
