The manufacturing method
of baking soda
baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is an important inorganic chemical raw material, widely used in food, medicine, chemical and other fields. The following is the manufacturing method of baking soda.
1. ammonia-alkali method
ammonia-alkali method is one of the most commonly used methods in baking soda production. The method uses salt, ammonia and carbon dioxide as raw materials to obtain baking soda through chemical reaction. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Dissolve salt in water and pass ammonia to make saturated ammonia brine.
2. Pour carbon dioxide into saturated ammonia salt water to precipitate sodium bicarbonate.
3. Sodium bicarbonate crystals were obtained by filtration, and then dried, crushed and other processes to obtain baking soda products.
ammonia-alkali method has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, simple operation and low production cost, but the waste liquid produced contains a large amount of calcium chloride and needs to be treated.
2. joint alkali method
joint alkali method, also known as Hou's alkali method, is a joint production of soda ash and baking soda method. The method uses salt, ammonia and carbon dioxide as raw materials, and through a series of chemical reactions, soda ash and baking soda are obtained at the same time. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Dissolve salt in water and pass ammonia to make saturated ammonia brine.
2. Pour carbon dioxide into saturated ammonia salt water to generate a mixed solution of sodium bicarbonate and ammonium chloride.
3. The mixed solution is heated to precipitate sodium bicarbonate while ammonium chloride decomposes into ammonia and hydrogen chloride gas.
4. The precipitated sodium bicarbonate is filtered, dried, and pulverized to obtain a baking soda product. At the same time, hydrogen chloride gas is passed into the milk of lime to generate calcium chloride and water, and calcium chloride is recovered.
the
combined alkali method has the advantages of high utilization rate of raw materials, high product purity and low waste liquid discharge, but the equipment investment is large and the production cost is high.
3. trona processing method
trona processing method is based on trona as raw material, after calcination, dissolution, carbonization and other processes, the production of baking soda. The specific steps are as follows:
1. calcining trona ore into sodium carbonate.
2. Dissolve sodium carbonate in water to make saturated sodium carbonate solution.
3. Carbon dioxide gas is introduced to convert sodium carbonate into sodium bicarbonate.
4. Filtering, drying and crushing to obtain a baking soda product.
trona processing method has the advantages of unique raw materials, good product quality and low cost, but it is limited by trona resource reserves.
In short, there are many manufacturing methods of baking soda, and different methods have different advantages and disadvantages and scope of application. In actual production, the appropriate manufacturing method should be selected according to the specific situation to improve product quality and reduce production costs.
