1. Introduction

(3) Purification of betaic acid

The crude betaic acid is added to ethanol, heated to reflux to dissolve impurities, and then cooled to crystallize to obtain betaic acid crystals with high purity.

2. Discussion

In this experiment, we adopted the method of sulfuric acid treatment of beet root, which converts the sugar into acidic substances, thereby increasing the yield of beet acid. At the same time, we used sodium hydroxide solution to adjust the pH value of the method, so that the beet acid precipitation, simplify the operation process. In the purification process, we used the method of ethanol reflux to effectively remove impurities and obtain betaic acid crystals with high purity. The manufacturing method has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, simple operation and high yield, and has certain practical application value.
