PTT (poly (trimethylene terephthalate)) is a high-performance engineering plastic with excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, electrical insulation and mechanical properties. It is widely used in automobiles, electronic appliances, aerospace, construction, medical equipment and other fields. In the field of chemical production raw materials, PTT manufacturing methods are mainly melt polycondensation and solution polycondensation.
1. Melt Polycondensation Method
The
melt polycondensation method is a method in which terephthalic acid (PTA) and 1,3-propanediol (PDO) are subjected to an esterification reaction and a polycondensation reaction in a molten state to produce a PTT polymer compound. The process flow of the method is as follows:
1. PTA and PDO are added into a reactor in proportion, protected by inert gas, and heated to a molten state.
2. In the presence of a catalyst, an esterification reaction is carried out to produce ditrimethylene terephthalate (BHET).
3. Polycondensation of BHET to produce a PTT polymer.
4. PTT pellets were obtained by extrusion granulation. The advantages of
melt polycondensation method are that pellets can be obtained directly, the production efficiency is high, and the cost is low. However, the reaction conditions of this method are relatively harsh, high temperature and high pressure are required, and the requirements for equipment are relatively high.
2. Solution Polycondensation Method
The
solution polycondensation method is a method in which PTA and PDO are dissolved in a solvent, and an esterification reaction and a polycondensation reaction are carried out under the action of a catalyst to produce a PTT polymer compound. The process flow of the method is as follows:
1. PTA and PDO are added to the solvent in proportion, and the mixture is heated to a certain temperature under the protection of inert gas.
2. Under the action of a catalyst, an esterification reaction is carried out to generate BHET.
3. Polycondensation of BHET to produce a PTT polymer.
4. PTT powder or fiber is obtained by precipitation, washing, drying, etc. The advantage of
solution polycondensation is that the reaction conditions are milder and the equipment requirements are lower. However, this method requires the use of a large amount of solvent, the production efficiency is low, and the cost is high.
No matter which method is used to manufacture PTT, it is necessary to strictly control the reaction conditions and the quality of raw materials to ensure the performance and quality of the product. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to environmental protection and safety during the production process to avoid harm to the environment and personnel.
In short, the manufacturing method of PTT needs to be selected according to specific production conditions and needs to ensure product performance and quality, while reducing production costs and improving the competitiveness of enterprises.
