DMC (dimethyl carbonate) is an important chemical raw material, widely used in synthetic fibers, plastics, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, fuels and other fields. The following is a method for producing DMC:
1. the phosgene method
the
phosgene method is a method in which phosgene and methanol are used as raw materials to react at a low temperature to produce dimethyl carbonate and hydrogen chloride gas. The reaction equation is as follows:
COCl2 2CH3OH → (COOCH3)2 2HCl
The process is mature and the yield is high, but a large amount of hydrogen chloride gas is produced in the production process, which is seriously corrosive to the equipment, and needs to consume a large amount of phosgene and methanol, and the cost is high.
2. transesterification method
transesterification method is based on diphenyl carbonate and methanol as raw materials, in the presence of a catalyst for transesterification reaction, the formation of dimethyl carbonate and diphenyl methanol. The reaction equation is as follows:
C6H5OCOOCH3 CH3OH-(COOCH3)2 C6H5OH
The method is easy to obtain raw materials, mild reaction conditions, high yield, but the selection and use of the catalyst conditions are more stringent, and the production process will produce a large number of diphenyl methanol by-products.
3. urea method
urea method is based on urea and methanol as raw materials, in the presence of a catalyst reaction, the formation of dimethyl carbonate, ammonia and carbon dioxide. The reaction equation is as follows:
CO(NH2)2 2CH3OH → (COOCH3)2 2NH3 CO2
The raw materials of this method are easy to obtain, the reaction conditions are mild, and no corrosive gas is produced, but the yield is low, and a large amount of catalyst and energy are required.
4. Methanol Oxidative Carbonylation
Methanol Oxidative Carbonylation is methanol, carbon monoxide and oxygen as raw materials, in the presence of a catalyst to react to produce dimethyl carbonate and water. The reaction equation is as follows:
2CH3OH 2CO O2 → 2(COOCH3) 2 H2O
The raw materials of this method are easy to obtain, the reaction conditions are mild, and no corrosive gas is produced, which is one of the methods studied more at home and abroad. However, this method requires the use of highly active catalysts, and a large amount of water and carbon dioxide by-products are produced during the reaction.
In short, there are many manufacturing methods for DMC, and different methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, and need to be selected according to the actual situation. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to safety, environmental protection and other issues in the production process to ensure the smooth progress of production.
