SEBS (hydrogenated styrene-butadiene-styrene triblock copolymer) is an important chemical raw material, widely used in plastic modification, rubber products, adhesives, lubricants and other fields. A method of manufacturing the SEBS will be described below.
1. raw material preparation
1. Styrene (St): industrial grade, purity ≥ 99%.
2. Butadiene (Bd): industrial grade, purity ≥ 98%.
3. Hydrogen: industrial grade, purity ≥ 99%.
4. Catalyst: Lithium chloride (LiCl) and aluminum alkyl (e. g., triethylaluminum).
2. Manufacturing Process
1. Polymerization
Styrene, butadiene and catalyst are added to the polymerization kettle and heated to a certain temperature (usually 50-80 ℃) for solution polymerization. The monomer concentration, reaction temperature and stirring speed need to be controlled during the reaction to obtain a suitable molecular weight and molecular weight distribution.
2. Hydrogenation
The product obtained from the polymerization reaction is subjected to a hydrogenation reaction to saturate the double bonds of the butadiene section. The hydrogenation reaction needs to be carried out in the presence of high-pressure hydrogen, and the reaction temperature and pressure need to be adjusted according to specific conditions. After completion of the hydrogenation reaction, post-treatment is required to remove unreacted hydrogen and catalyst.
3. Devolatilization
The SEBS product from the hydrogenation reaction is devolatilized to remove residual styrene and butadiene monomers. The devolatilization treatment may be carried out under vacuum conditions to reduce the volatile content of the product.
4. Granulation and Packaging
The devolatilized SEBS product is granulated to obtain a granulated product that is convenient for transportation and storage. After the granulation is completed, it needs to be packaged to avoid moisture and contamination of the product.
3. precautions
1. In the manufacturing process, it is necessary to strictly control the process parameters to ensure product quality and output.
2. Strict quality inspection and control of raw materials are required to avoid adverse effects on product quality.
3. It is necessary to pay attention to safety during the hydrogenation reaction to avoid hydrogen leakage and fire accidents.
In summary, the process for producing SEBS requires a number of steps, including polymerization, hydrogenation, devolatilization, and granulation packaging. In the manufacturing process, it is necessary to strictly control the process parameters and the quality of raw materials to ensure product quality and output. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to safe production to avoid accidents.
