In the field of chemical production raw materials, DOP (dioctyl ester) is a widely used plasticizer. It has excellent plasticizing properties and can be used to improve the flexibility, processability and durability of plastic products. This article will introduce the manufacturing method of DOP in detail, including the steps of raw material preparation, esterification reaction, neutralization and washing, decolorization, dehydration and finished product packaging.
1. raw material preparation
DOP production mainly need phthalic anhydride and octanol two kinds of raw materials. Among them, phthalic anhydride can be obtained by benzene oxidation method, and octanol can be obtained by petrochemical raw material ethylene hydration method. When preparing raw materials, it is necessary to ensure that the purity and quality of the raw materials meet the production requirements.
2. esterification
esterification is a key step in DOP production. Phthalic anhydride and octanol were added into the esterification reactor according to a certain molar ratio, and the esterification reaction was carried out under the action of catalyst. Commonly used catalysts include sulfuric acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, etc. The temperature and pressure need to be controlled during the reaction to ensure the smooth progress of the reaction. At the same time, periodic sampling analysis is required to determine the extent of reaction and product quality.
3. Neutralization Washing
After completion of the
esterification reaction, the reaction product needs to be neutralized and washed. First, the reaction solution is cooled to a certain temperature, and an alkaline absorbent is added to neutralize the excess acid. Then, the reaction solution was washed with water to remove the catalyst and by-products therein. The pH and washing temperature need to be controlled during the washing process to ensure product purity.
4. decolorization
The crude DOP after washing contains a certain amount of pigments and impurities, and needs to be decolorized. Commonly used decolorization methods are activated carbon decolorization and ion exchange resin decolorization. In the decolorization process, it is necessary to control the amount of decolorizing agent and decolorization time to ensure the decolorization effect and product quality.
5. dehydration
a certain amount of water is contained in the decolorized DOP, and dehydration treatment is required. Commonly used dehydration methods include molecular sieve dehydration, vacuum dehydration, etc. During the dehydration process, it is necessary to control the temperature and vacuum degree to ensure that the water can be effectively removed.
6. Finished Product Packaging
The finished DOP processed by the above steps needs to be packaged for storage and transportation. During the packaging process, care should be taken to maintain product stability and avoid contamination. Commonly used packaging materials are plastic drums, iron drums and so on.
In summary, the manufacturing method of DOP includes the steps of raw material preparation, esterification reaction, neutralization and washing, decolorization, dehydration and finished product packaging. In the production process, it is necessary to strictly control the operating conditions and product quality of each step to ensure that the quality of the final product meets relevant standards and requirements. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to the safety and environmental protection issues in the production process, comply with relevant laws, regulations and standard requirements, and ensure the safety and sustainability of the production process.
