In the field of chemical production raw materials, AS(Acrylonitrile-Styrene Copolymer, acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer) is a common plastic material. The upstream and downstream related products of AS mainly include the following categories:

1. Upstream raw material

(1) Acrylonitrile: Acrylonitrile is one of the main raw materials of AS, which is produced by the reaction of propylene, ammonia and oxygen. The production technology and equipment of acrylonitrile are very similar to the production of vinyl chloride by ethylene oxychlorination, except that the yield of acrylonitrile is lower than that of vinyl chloride. In addition, the production process of acrylonitrile will use the highly toxic substance hydrogen cyanide, safety production and environmental protection requirements are strict. At present, the production technology of acrylonitrile in the world is mainly controlled by several large companies.

(2) Styrene: Styrene is another major raw material for AS and is produced by the catalytic dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene. Industrially, styrene is mainly produced by ethylbenzene dehydrogenation.

2. Downstream product

(1)AS plastic: AS plastic is a transparent and yellow to amber solid, with good thermoplasticity, not easy to change color, not affected by dilute acid, dilute alkali, dilute alcohol and gasoline. However, it is soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, dichloroethylene, etc. Excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance. The products made by AS have the characteristics of high transparency, good gloss, bright colors, hard quality, and not easy to break.

(2)SAN plastic: SAN, also known as AS-A or ASA, is a polymer compound made of acrylonitrile and styrene. It is a colorless and transparent thermoplastic resin with high temperature resistance, excellent gloss and chemical resistance, as well as excellent hardness, rigidity, dimensional stability and high carrying capacity. SAN is widely used in the production of oil-resistant, heat-resistant, chemical-resistant industrial products, as well as instrument panels, instrument frames, enclosures, battery boxes, junction boxes, a variety of switches and according to regulations.

In general, AS's upstream and downstream related products cover multiple chemical and material fields, which are of great significance for chemical production and application.
