A mass flow meter is an instrument that measures the mass flow of a gas or liquid. It is different from traditional volumetric flow meters, which calculate flow by measuring the volume entering and exiting a container, while mass flow meters calculate flow by measuring the difference in mass of the fluid flowing through a period of time. Mass flowmeter is widely used in chemical, petroleum, food, pharmaceutical and other industrial fields because of its high measurement accuracy, strong stability and wide application range.
According to the different measurement principles, mass flow meters are mainly divided into four types: conduit mass flow meters, thermal mass flow meters, oscillating mass flow meters and sonic mass flow meters. The conduit mass flowmeter is the most common one, which measures the pressure difference and temperature change induced when the fluid flows in the conduit, so as to reverse the mass flow rate of the fluid. The thermal mass flowmeter calculates the mass flow rate of the fluid by heating the fluid and measuring the temperature change after heating. The working principle of
mass flowmeter can be simply summarized as the interaction between the two physical quantities of "stress" and "strain. Take a conduit mass flow meter as an example. When the fluid passes through the conduit, a pressure difference and temperature change will be induced. The changes in these physical quantities will be mapped on the stress and strain of the material, thereby generating an output signal. By processing these output signals, the mass flow meter finally outputs an accurate mass flow rate value.
