[Chemical Knowledge]:Production process and preparation method of vinyl acetate VA

Vinyl acetate (VA), also known as vinyl acetate, is a colorless liquid with low volatility, hydrophobicity, and temperature resistance. It is widely used in synthetic resins, coatings, plastics and other fields. This article will introduce the production process and preparation method of VA.

1. production process

VA production process mainly has the following two kinds:

(1) ethylene acid esterification method

converts sodium chloride into cuprous chloride in polycondensation reaction, and then reduces it to copper powder. Then, the copper powder is placed in a reaction kettle, acetic acid and acetylene are added, copper acetylate and hydrogen are generated through the reaction, formaldehyde and sulfuric acid are added, and vinyl acetate is generated through the esterification reaction. Finally, vinyl acetate is obtained through distillation, purification and other steps. The

reaction formula is as follows:

C2H2 Cu→ CuC2H

CuC2H HOAc → CuC2H HO

CuC2H H2 → CuC2H2

CuC2H AcH H2SO4 → OAc-C2H4-OAc CuSO4

(2) Ethylene and Acetic Anhydride Composite Reaction Method

acetic anhydride and ethylene are put into a reactor, and under the action of a catalyst, a composite reaction occurs to generate vinyl acetate. The process is simple and economical.

CH3COOCOCH3 C2H4 → CH3COOC2H5

2. preparation method

The method of preparing VA from acetic acid and acetylene is the most common. The specific steps are as follows:

(1) Preparation of acetic acid

Ethanol is added into a reaction kettle, and acetic acid is generated through oxidation reaction.

CH3CH2OH O2 → CH3COOH

(2) Preparation of acetylene

ethane is cracked to produce acetylene.

reaction formula is as follows:

CH3CH3 → CH3CH = CH2

(3) Preparation of vinyl acetate

Acetic acid, acetylene, copper powder and catalyst are added into a reaction kettle, and vinyl acetate is obtained through a series of reactions. The

reaction formula is as follows:

2CH3COOH 2C2H2 → CH3COOC2H4COOH 2H2

CH3COOC2H4COOH → CH3COOC2H4OAc H2O

CH3COOC2H4OAc →

Among the above preparation methods, the second method is more common than the first method because it has the advantages of short preparation process, low temperature and high yield.
