methyl methacrylate, abbreviated as MMA, is an organic compound, a colorless liquid, volatile and flammable. Relative density 0.9440. Melting point- 48 ℃. Boiling point 100~101 ℃. Flash point (open cup) 10 ℃. Refractive index 1. 4142. Vapor pressure (25.5 ℃)5.33kPa. Soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone and other organic solvents. Slightly soluble in ethylene glycol and water. It is easy to polymerize in the presence of light, heat, ionizing radiation and catalyst.

Six Functions and Uses

of Methyl Methacrylate 1. Used as Organic Glass Monomer,

2. Used to make other plastics, coatings, etc.

3. Intermediates for fungicide sclerotium

4. Used for copolymerization with other vinyl monomers to obtain products with different properties

5. Used in the manufacture of other resins, plastics, adhesives, coatings, lubricants, wood infiltrators, motor coil infiltrators, ion exchange resins, paper polish, textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries, leather treatment agents and insulating infusion materials.

6. It is used to produce copolymeric methyl methacrylate-butadiene-styrene (MBS) and is used as PVC modifier.
