toluene is a colorless and transparent liquid with a benzene flavor. Strong refraction. It can be miscible with organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, carbon disulfide, glacial acetic acid, etc., and is very slightly soluble in water.

Eight Functions and Uses

of Toluene 1. Used as Chromatographic Reference Material.

2. Used as cleaning agent for electronic industry. Synthesis of dyes, spices, benzoic acid, benzaldehyde and other organic compounds.

3. Used as solvents, such as paints, paint thinners, silicone sealants, many chemical reactants, rubber, inks, adhesives (glues), varnishes, leather tanneries and disinfectants.

4. Standard for constant temperature drying oven as calibration thermometer.

5. Used for nitrification to obtain mono, di and trinitrotoluene, all of which are widely used.

6. It can be used as an octane booster in internal combustion engine gasoline fuel and jet fuel.

7 Partial oxidation of toluene with oxygen to produce benzoic acid and benzaldehyde.

8. Hydrodealkylation is used as a benzene precursor.
