[International Situation]:It has been decided that the world's fifth largest polyolefin manufacturer will be released.

It is reported that Sibull and Taif announced in April this year that they would merge some assets. According to the data provided by Sipur, if the future capacity of the company's two large-scale projects in Amur state is included, the joint entity of Sipur and Taif will have a polyolefin capacity of 8.1 million tons/year. Its polyolefin production capacity only lags behind Sinopec, ExxonMobil, Leander Basser and Saudi Aramco, becoming the world's fifth largest polyolefin producer. In addition, according to Sibl's data, the new entity will also become the world's third largest polyolefin elastomer manufacturer, with a production capacity of 1.2 million tons/year, second only to Aronsinco and Exxon Mobil.

, the assets of the two companies will also be incorporated into the joint entity after the merger of the assets of the Lower Kamensk large petrochemical complex in the West Siberian region. Upon completion, the complex is expected to produce 1.8 million tons/year of petrochemicals, including a 600,000 tons/year naphtha steam cracking unit to produce ethylene and by-products including C5 and heavy fractions. The factory can also produce 800,000 tons of polyolefin elastomers and 450,000 tons of polyolefins, including polyethylene and polypropylene, each year. In addition, the factory also produces 300,000 tons of polystyrene every year.

Other assets of the new entity include Kazanorgsintez facilities in Sipur. The base is the only ethylene-vinyl acetate production base in Russia, and produces polycarbonate and bisphenol A and other products.

For its, as a state-owned enterprise in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan and Russia's largest unlisted petrochemical company, Taif controls most of Tatarstan's chemical, petrochemical and oil and gas processing sectors. In 2020, the company's base in the Republic of Tatarstan produced Russian-64% rubber and 28% plastics. The products were exported to 50 countries such as Europe, America and Southeast Asia, accounting for about 50% of the total output.

The two companies also said that the priorities listed in the agreement will be to implement projects to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve polymer waste recycling, but did not disclose further details.

Sipur has increased its investment in CIS countries in recent years. In June this year, the company said that it had signed a framework agreement with Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund Samruk Kazyna and Kazakhstan's state-owned oil and gas company KazMunayGas to participate in Kazakhstan's nearly 2 million tons/year polymer project development.
