Recently, the US "Chemical and Engineering News" (Chemical & Engineering News,C & EN) released" 2024 the world's 50 largest chemical companies"ranking (C & EN'sGlobal Top 50 chemical firms for 2024), which is based on the relevant companies' fiscal year 2023 chemical Sales rank. The top 50 companies had $1036 billion billion in total chemical sales in fiscal year 2023, down 10.7 percent from fiscal year 2022. Profits at the 38 largest chemical companies reporting data fell 44.1 percent to $54.4 billion billion from the previous year. The top three on this year's list are still BASF, Sinopec and Dow. China's petrochemical producers rose, with Rongsheng Petrochemical, Hengli Petrochemical and Wanhua Chemical Group rising in the rankings, with Oriental Shenghong and Xinfengming Group on the list for the first time. DSM and Fenmeini are ranked 36th after the merger, and Celanese is on the list because of the acquisition of DuPont's engineering polymers business. Solvay fell off the list because it was split into two companies. Among the top 50 companies, there are 10 headquartered in China (including Taiwan), including: sinopec (2), PetroChina (5), Formosa Plastics (9), Rongsheng Petrochemical (14), Wanhua Chemical (16), Hengli Petrochemical (18), Oriental Shenghong (22), Tongkun Holdings (37), Hengyi Petrochemical (40), Xinfengming Group (48). Syngenta Group, a subsidiary of Sinochem in China and headquartered in Switzerland, ranked 13th.
