Recently, the start-up meeting of the PC & BPA joint plant for the 1.5 million-ton/year ethylene and downstream deep processing consortium project in Fujian Zhongsha Gulei was successfully held in the company.

It is reported that the Fujian Zhongsha Gulei Ethylene Project is located in the Gulei Petrochemical Base, one of the seven major petrochemical bases in China, with a total investment of about 44.8 billion yuan (about 6.4 billion US dollars).

The main construction of the project:

ethylene and downstream-ethylene production scale is 1.5 million tons/year, ethylene downstream is planned to build 10/1 million tons/year ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol, 400000 tons/year HDPE, 600000 tons/year mLLDPE/HDPE and 50000 tons/year hexene -1.

Propylene and downstream-Propylene downstream is planned to build 400000 tons/year polypropylene (impact/random) and 550000 tons/year polypropylene (homopolymerization/random). There are also some propylene downstream planning and construction of 25/150000 tons/year phenol acetone, 270000 tons/year bisphenol A and 290000 tons/year of polycarbonate.

In addition, 910000 tons/year pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation (including styrene extraction), 220000 tons/year butadiene extraction, 56000 tons/year butene-1 unit and 570000 tons/year aromatics extraction will be built.

Li Guoqing, Project Director of Fujian Zhongsha Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Al-Shawaf Zuhair, Project Acting Director, Liang Junxiang, General Manager of Tianchen Company, and Geely, Deputy General Manager, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Li Guoqing and Zuhair once again congratulated Tianchen Company on becoming the general contractor of PC & BPA joint plant EPC. As the most difficult bid section of the project, they hoped that both parties would fully carry forward the "four ones" spirit of "one family, one heart, one strength and one goal", concentrate their efforts, overcome difficulties and successfully complete the project construction task.

Project background:

the Sino-Shagoulei consortium project is a joint venture between Fujian Energy and Petrochemical Group and the world petrochemical giant Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). It is a key project for Sino-Saudi capacity and investment cooperation, the third batch of national major foreign investment projects, and it is also an important practice to promote the docking of the high-quality "the belt and road initiative" initiative with Saudi Arabia's "2030 Vision.

The ethylene project is located in the Gulei Petrochemical Base, one of the seven major petrochemical bases in China, and is built by Fujian Zhongsha, which was established in March 2022, fujian Fuhua Gulei Petrochemical Co., Ltd., which is controlled by Fujian Energy and Petrochemical Group, and Saudi Industrial Investment Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SABIC, account for 49%:51% of the shares.. The total investment of the project is about 44.8 billion billion yuan (about 6.4 billion US dollars). The final investment decision of SABIC was announced in January this year. It is an important node for Fujian Energy and Petrochemical Group and SABIC to promote cross-regional cooperation and win-win. The project is expected to be completed in 2026. It is estimated that the annual production capacity of ethylene can reach up to 1.8 million tons, which not only meets the market and customer demand for high-end chemical products, but also drives the downstream of the industrial chain to create more investment opportunities.
