On March 4, Guangxi Huayi Phase III 300000-ton/year vinyl acetate plant, which was contracted by Shanghai Engineering Company EPC, held a groundbreaking ceremony in Qinzhou, Guangxi. The company's deputy general manager and chief engineer Lu Shijun attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The vinyl acetate plant is an important unit in Huayi Nenghua's "Methanol to Olefin and Downstream Deep Processing Integration Project. The catalytic oxidation synthesis of vinyl acetate process technology led by Sinopec Technology Development Company and jointly developed by Shanghai Petrochemical, Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute and Shanghai Engineering Company has the characteristics of excellent catalyst activity, long service life and localization of all core process equipment.

As early as a month ago, on January 29, Guangxi Huayi held a signing ceremony for the general contract of vinyl acetate plant with Sinopec Shanghai project.

Recent project developments

with the continued prosperity of the domestic photovoltaic industry, the rapid development of the EVA industry has been driven, and the demand for raw materials VA has maintained rapid growth. In the past, only a few companies in the country, such as Celanese, had VA production, resulting in a shortage of supply. In recent years, the trend of integration is becoming more and more obvious, and the newly launched EVA devices are equipped with VA raw materials. Let's take a look at the recent dynamics of domestic VA projects.

1. VA plant of Lianhong Chemical is put into operation

on January 13, 2024, the 90000-ton/year vinyl acetate (VA) plant of lianhong (Shandong) chemical co., ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of lianhong xinke, was successfully tested and qualified VA products were produced on January 14.

The VA unit adopts domestic mature advanced technology and uses Lianhong Xinke's own ethylene as raw material. VA products are mainly supplied to Lianhong Xinke EVA unit for production and use. The construction of the VA plant will start in October 2022 and will be completed by October 31, 2023. The smooth commissioning of the plant will fully guarantee the stable supply of VA raw materials for the 200000-ton/year EVA plant under construction, further reduce production costs and have a positive impact on the company's operations.

2. Environmental Impact Assessment of Zhongtian Hechuang VA Project

in December 2023, Zhongtian Hechuang Green Carbon Reduction Upgrade Project will be accepted and publicized. The total investment of the project is 6.12 billion yuan, with a land area of 260684.50 m2. The construction content includes 300000 tons/year acetic acid plant, 200000 tons/year vinyl acetate plant, 110000 tons/year EVA plant (kettle type polyethylene renovation), 4 × 30000 tons/year VAE plant, etc.

Among them, the product scale of vinyl acetate plant is 200000 tons/year. Using Sinopec's own gas-phase ethylene process technology. Vinyl acetate was synthesized by gas-phase catalytic oxidation of ethylene and acetic acid in a fixed bed.
