It is mainly used to prepare nut essence such as walnut and Siberian hazelnut. This product is also used to prepare ylang ylang, Kananga, Violet, narcissus, gorse and other essences. It can also be used as intermediates of other spices.

Production method

It is prepared by methylating p-methylphenol with dimethyl sulfate in the presence of sodium hydroxide. After the reaction, it is neutralized and washed, separated by layers; The finished product is obtained by vacuum distillation, and the technological process is similar to that of 2-methylanisole.
