PTMG-1000 and PTMEG-1000 are the same substance, polytetrahydrofuran ether glycol.
Physicochemical properties
White vinegar solid will become transparent liquid when the temperature exceeds room temperature. Easily soluble in alcohol, Ester, ketone, aromatic hydrocarbon and chlorinated hydrocarbon, insoluble in transesterification hydrocarbon and water. When the molecular weight increases, the solubility decreases. PTMEG has water absorption at room temperature. Its water absorption depends on the molecular weight, and it can absorb 2% of water at the highest.

PTMEG is obtained by Cationic ring opening polymerization of tetrahydrofuran (THF) in the presence of catalyst. Its English name is Polytetramethylene Ether Glycol, referred to as PTMEG. Common Chinese names include Polytetramethylene ether glycol, tetrahydrofuran polyether or Polytetramethylene ether glycol, etc. PTMEG is a primary hydroxyl-terminated Polyether diol, which is white and waxy solid at room temperature and transparent colorless liquid after melting. PTMEG is mainly used to produce polyurethane elastomer, polycarbaminate fiber (domestic name Spandex, international name Spandex) and Ester ether copolymer elastomer. The largest consumption market of PTMEG abroad is Spandex, accounting for about 40%; The second is polyurethane elastomer, accounting for about 35%; Ester ether copolymer elastomer accounts for about 25%. PTMEG is a very important Polyether polyol raw material in the production of polyurethane elastomer products. Domestic PTMEG is mainly used for the production of spandex and polyurethane elastomer, and it is basically blank for ester ether copolymer elastomer.
