Both caustic soda and soda ash are common alkaline substances, but there are certain differences in chemical properties, preparation processes and uses.

caustic soda (also known as anhydrous alkali) is a widely used industrial alkali, common sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) and so on.
